Ohio Auto Liability Increase

Effective December 22, 2013, the state of Ohio has passed legislation increasing the minimum automobile liability limits for insurance policies. Insurance Companies must comply with the law by issuing new and renewal business with the new limits. As for this fact, anyone with minimum liability limits may see an increase in their premium.
In Ohio the required minimum for Bodily Injury Liability Coverage is currently $12,500 per person injured in any one accident and $25,000 for all persons injured in any one accident. The required minimum for Property Damage Liability Coverage is $7,500 for injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident.
By December 22, 2013, new law raises the minimum limits to $25,000 per person injured in any one accident with a $50,000.00 maximum for all persons injured in any one accident. The minimum Property Damage Coverage will be $25,000 for property of others.
Logan Insurance Agency recommends liability limits of $100,000 per person injured in any one accident with a $300,000 maximum for all persons injured in any one accident. We also recommend Property Damage Coverage with $100,000 for property of others.
Of course not one policy fits everyone’s needs. Our agents may recommend higher or lower liability limits based upon your specific needs and situation.
